Description: NCIA's CDL B training program is a 17-week course designed to prepare students for driving heavy single-unit vehicles, including dump trucks and buses. Training covers DOT certification, MVA commercial driving endorsements, pre-trip inspections, and hands-on skill development.

Description: Montgomery College (MC) partners with industry, community organizations, and higher education institutions to provide Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training for unemployed, underemployed, and incumbent workers. The program includes CDL Class A training (approximately 300 hours) for heavy and tractor-trailer vehicles and CDL Class B training (approximately 70 hours) for lighter trucks and buses. Through the MOVE partnership, Hagerstown Community College delivers CDL Class A instruction. In addition to training, MC provides supportive services such as coverage of the Maryland Department of Transportation physical exam, CDL exam preparation, and reimbursement for Maryland Vehicle Administration driving record fees.

Certifications Earned: Participants can earn their Class A and Class B Commercial Drivers Licenses (CDL).
Eligibility: To obtain a Maryland CDL, applicants must be at least 21 years old (or 18 if all commercial driving is conducted within Maryland, no hazardous materials requiring placards are transported, and no double or triple trailer combinations are driven). Applicants must be physically qualified to obtain a valid medical examiner’s certificate prior to taking any CDL skills test and must also meet CDL eligibility requirements based on their driving record. Additional qualifying requirements may be obtained by contacting Montgomery College.

Description: Best CDL’s CDL Class A & B Training Program prepares participants for careers in the transportation and logistics industry by providing the skills, knowledge, and hands-on driving experience needed to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Offered in partnership with the Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation, the program helps eligible Anne Arundel County residents begin long-term careers in a high-demand field.
The program includes classroom instruction, individualized driving and skills training, pre-trip inspection training, and preparation for the CDL licensing exam. Training is aligned with Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) requirements, and participants receive support throughout the licensing process. Theory classes are held Tuesday evenings in Annapolis, while pre-trip, skills, and driving instruction take place in Deale and are scheduled individually with each participant.

Description: Maryland New Directions offers three training programs:
1. Maritime, Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics (MTDL) Program: This program prepares participants for careers in warehousing, material handling, manufacturing, and logistics. Through employer partnerships with companies connected to the Port of Baltimore, participants gain industry-focused training and access to employment opportunities in high-demand transportation and logistics careers.
2. Commercial Transportation Careers (CTC) Program: This program prepares participants to earn their CDL-B Commercial Driver Learner’s Permit (CLP) and pursue careers operating commercial passenger vehicles or box trucks. Career pathways may include school bus driving, municipal transportation services, private transportation companies, and other commercial driving opportunities.
3. Building Trades Career Pathways (BTCP) Program: This program introduces participants to careers in the skilled trades through hands-on training and classroom instruction. Participants explore fields such as construction, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, HVAC, and masonry while developing workplace readiness, communication, teamwork, and other professional skills. The program is designed to help individuals gain confidence, explore career options, and prepare for future training and employment opportunities in high-demand trades.

Description: Employ Prince George’s, Inc., in partnership with the HOPE Project, offers a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training program designed to prepare participants for careers in the transportation and logistics industry.
Participants receive hands-on, instructor-led training to earn either a CDL-A or CDL-B license. The program covers commercial vehicle operation, safety procedures, road regulations, and the skills needed to safely operate commercial vehicles.
In addition to technical training, participants receive career coaching, case management, and job placement assistance to support their transition into employment.
Training is provided through scheduled cohorts throughout the grant period, allowing participants to complete classroom and driving instruction, prepare for licensure, and connect with job opportunities in the transportation field.
