Healthcare Mentorship Maryland is an eight-week Certified Nursing Assistant-l/Certified Nursing Assistant-ll (CNA-l/CNA-ll) training program that provides comprehensive essential skills training, case management, job readiness instruction, placement, and retention services to meet a critical demand of essential workers for diverse healthcare organizations. The 8-week program is structured into two distinct components:
1. Essential Skills (4 weeks): Participants attend a 36-hour soft-skills training course that introduces the professional skills required for entry-level healthcare employment. During this course, participants are taught essential skills with the goal of becoming effective and thriving healthcare professionals. Training modules include career and soft skill development. Coursework also addresses classroom learning skills essential in preparing students for entering technical training.
2. Technical Training (4 weeks): Participants attend a 120-hour CNA-1/CNA-ll training program through a partnership with a licensed external training provider certified by the Maryland Higher Education Commission and the Maryland Board of Nursing. The course consists of 120 hours of instruction, which includes 42 hours of clinical experience, 48 hours of lecture/theory, and 30 hours of lab/clinical practice. Upon completing the program and all state licensing requirements, graduates will register with the Maryland Board of Nursing to obtain their nursing assistant certification. 3. Certified Medication Technician (4 days): Participants attend a 20-hour training program to prepare unlicensed staff to safely administer medications under the delegation of a Registered Nurse in Assisted Living facilities and Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) community-based programs.

1. CNA-
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) play a vital role in healthcare by assisting patients with daily activities, monitoring vital signs, and helping ensure their comfort and safety. This program provides the essential knowledge, hands-on training, and confidence needed to succeed as a Certified Nursing Assistant and deliver quality patient care. Training includes both classroom instruction and supervised clinical hands-on experience.
2. CMA-
The Certified Medicine Aide (CMA) Program prepares Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to administer specific medications to residents in a Maryland nursing home under the supervision of a nurse or physician. Approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing, our 80-hour medicine aide course includes 48 hours of theory and 32 hours of clinical. Some topics include administering non-parenteral medications, procedures and techniques for administering drugs, drug classification, drug solutions, measurements, and standards.
3. PCT-
Take your Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification to the next level with the 12-week Patient Care Technician (PCT) program. This training program builds on foundational CNA skills through instruction in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, legal and ethical practices, catheter care, phlebotomy, electrocardiograms (EKGs), glucose monitoring, basic wound care, and more. Upon completion, participants will be prepared to apply their expanded skill set toward employment opportunities in local hospitals and healthcare settings.

Effective April 1, 2026, The Certified Nursing Assistant-I (CNA-I) training certificate (formerly the CNA/GNA) is now required by ALL healthcare employer in Maryland. This is a 140 hour certificate program offered: day/9am-3pm or night/5:30pm-10:30pm, full-time/4-5 classes per week or part-time/3 classes per week. Depending on the class schedule, the program typically runs 8-13 weeks. The training includes 100+ hours of lecture and skills training and 40 hours of clinical training. Graduates are placed in employment upon completion. We provide support during licensing and offer lifetime job placement. This class is ideal for individuals who are seeking employment in long-term care and skilled nursing facilities, primarily caring for the elderly. This is not a hospital class.

The Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification Training is structured around the nine core competencies for CHWs: advocacy and community capacity building, effective oral and written communication, cultural competency, ethics and confidentiality, knowledge of local resources and system navigation, care coordination support, health behavior change education, outreach strategies, and foundational public health and health literacy concepts.
The curriculum is organized into two modules. Module I (entry level) focuses on foundational understanding of the CHW role, including its history, core responsibilities, required skills, and key legal and ethical considerations, with an emphasis on perspective development. Module II (entry and incumbent level) builds technical knowledge in medical and healthcare concepts to strengthen applied practice in the field.
This program is designed for unemployed and underemployed individuals, as well as those seeking career advancement through CHW certification and improved earning potential. Participants are trained to support individuals and families in underserved communities who may face barriers such as limited access to healthcare, financial constraints, language differences, or cultural barriers. CHWs help bridge these gaps by providing education, navigation support, and connection to services.
The training consists of 100 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours of supervised field experience (practicum), delivered over approximately four months.

The CAF Workforce, Health and Wellness Program (CWHWP) is a healthcare apprenticeship and workforce development program led by Centro de Apoyo Familiar (CAF) in partnership with Casa Rubén. Participants receive classroom instruction, workforce readiness training, employment coaching, financial literacy education, and on-the-job learning opportunities through employer partners. The training includes clinical knowledge, administrative healthcare skills, front desk operations, patient scheduling, and CMA certification preparation.
The program follows a hire-first apprenticeship model that combines Related Technical Instruction (RTI) with On-the-Job Learning (OJL).

Healthcare 101 (18 hours)- The Healthcare Career Fundamentals course provides an opportunity for obtaining the fundamental skills needed to succeed in finding and succeeding in a job and building the foundation for a rewarding career within the healthcare administrative and clinical support sectors. 2. IT 101 & Digital Literacy (20 hours)- This module focuses on computer basics including computer hygiene, Introduction to Microsoft Office and Introduction to Electronic Health Records.
