Description: As a non-profit 501(c)(3) workforce training program, BioTechnical Institute of Maryland, Inc. provides tuition-free training to under and unemployed motivated individuals enabling them to launch careers as BioPharma, Biotech and other Bioscience industry positions as entry-level employees. The program consists of two components: BioSTART and Laboratory Associates.
The role of BioSTART is to prepare trainees for the laboratory associate program. Areas covered includes Mathematics, Introduction to Biotechnology, communication skills, professional development which consist of job acquisition and job retention skills.
Laboratory Associates program combines lectures with hands on laboratory skills. Areas covered includes documentation, laboratory safety, solution-making, mammalian and bacterial DNA purification & analysis. Also, covered pharmaceutical-related skills such as good manufacturing practices, cleanroom gowning and cleaning. Additionally, we cover Immunology, Histology, Animal Care, with hands on cell culture instruction and practice.

Description: The Maryland Cannabis Administration's (MCA) Workforce Development Program, a partnership between MCA and EARN Maryland, provides a cumulative 30 hours of virtual and 16 in-person training for retail, processing and cultivation careers across Maryland's fast growing cannabis industry. Participants will have access to eight instructor-led self-paced courses taught by industry experts, licensed operators and college professors. After completing the virtual academy, participants may enroll in a two day in-person course providing 16 hours of hands-on occupational training in cultivation, processing, and dispensary operations.
Location:
The training includes both virtual and in-person instruction. The in-person training is held at one of the following locations; Howard Community College, Community College of Baltimore County, or Maryland Innovation Center.
Certifications Earned: Participants who successfully complete the program will earn a certificate of completion.
Eligibility: Participants must be Maryland residents and at least 21 years of age.
Expected Earnings: Wages start at around $16.00 an hour, depending on desired position.

Description: Baltimore BioWorks offers BioWorkforce Training Skills programs that prepare participants for entry-level careers in Maryland’s biotechnology and biomanufacturing industries. Training pathways include Biotechnology, BioWorkforce Skills, and Biomanufacturing, with instruction focused on laboratory, production, and industry support roles. Participants receive hands-on technical and workforce training aligned with current employer and industry needs, along with specialized career-focused instruction and job placement support to help transition into employment within Maryland’s life sciences industry.
